When refusing Deflect is the right call

Deflect looks like a wall. It is a toll booth, and you may always turn around. The consequence is spelled out: the triggered ability fails to finalize and does nothing.

When to walk away

When the trigger is worth less than the power, when you need that power to answer something bigger this turn, or when paying tells your opponent exactly what you are holding.
